CHAPTER IX: CONCLUSION
第九章: 結論

Now that I have laid down the true principles of political right, and tried to give the State a basis of its own to rest on, I ought next to strengthen it by its external relations, which would include the law of nations, commerce, the right of war and conquest, public right, leagues, negotiations, treaties, etc.
rest on (頼る) [動] to depend on
ought (するべきである) [助] used to express moral obligation or advice
league (同盟) [名] an association of states, organizations, or individuals for common action
negotiation (交渉) [名] discussion aimed at reaching an agreement
treaty (条約) [名] a formally concluded and ratified agreement between states
政治的権利の真の原理を定め、国家にそれ自身の基礎を与えようとした今、私は次に、国家の外部関係によってそれを強化するべきである。これには、国際法、商業、戦争と征服の権利、公法、同盟、交渉、条約などが含まれる。
But all this forms a new subject that is far too vast for my narrow scope.
far (広すぎる) [副] to a great extent; by a great deal
narrow (狭い) [形] of small width or breadth
scope (視野) [名] the extent of the area or subject matter that something deals with or to which it is relevant
しかし、これらすべては、私の狭い視野には広すぎる新しい主題を形成する。
I ought throughout to have kept to a more limited sphere.
keep to (留まる) [動] remain in or near
limited (限定された) [形] restricted in size, extent, or amount
私は終始、もっと限定された範囲に留まるべきだった。
